Sweet Myrrh

Sweet myrrh is a resin collected from the Commiphora holtziana tree. This tree grows widely and naturally in Somalia, Ethiopia and in Kenya. Commiphora, in particular produces the sensual smelling myrrh, making it a sought-after commodity for the crafting of incense, perfumes and fragrances.

The resin oozes a pale yellow-white viscous liquid from natural cracks in the bark or from fissures. The exudate hardens into a reddish-brown mass when air dried. The resin is sustainably harvested from the wild jungles of Northern parts of Kenya like Samburu and Marsabit with collaboration with the local communities.

Through the steam distillation process, sweet myrrh essential oil is extracted. It has amber to brown in clour and has an earthy scent.

In addition to its pleasant, warm, and earthy scent, myrrh oil may also have several health benefits. If you want to try sweet myrrh oil, dilute it in a carrier oil and apply it to your skin, or diffuse it to inhale the aroma.

At Agar ltd we have a super fresh batch of sweet myrrh essential oil. To purchase, visit our webstore or see our Instagram shop.
