Before founding AGAR Limited our MD Tommaso and our Area Manager Kevin were working for KARA, a company we took from inactivity to regional operations (we worked in Uganda…) setting the ground for what we do now, empowering pastoralist communities in arid lands and assessing value chains.
In November 2020, our MD Tommaso and Area Manager Kevin were in Marsabit running a market assessment for a big NGO working on alternative livelihoods, in order to make sure the proper market linkages are obtained.
We gave the Kenya Catalytic Jobs Fund a tour of our company operations which includes of course a lot of partnerships with local communities in arid land, whom we equip and empower through collection of gums and resins as a source of alternative livelihood and process the gums into top quality, organic essential oils.
Our Aloe products are produced by one of our Laikipia based women’s group using the indigenous aloe secundiflora. We continuously train them on how to make them better, all-natural maximising on locally sourced natural oils and having them scented with our undisputed pure essential oils.
Sweet myrrh is a resin collected from the Commiphora holtziana tree. This tree grows widely and naturally in Somalia, Ethiopia and in Kenya. Commiphora, in particular produces the sensual smelling myrrh, making it a sought-after commodity for the crafting of incense, perfumes and fragrances.
